1. The applicant meets with the Main Street Director and receives a copy of the guidelines and an application form. The applicant may request a meeting with the Main Street Board of Directors to discuss rehabilitation plans prior to application.
2. The applicant returns the completed application with an application fee of $50 and all other requested documentation to the Main Street Director. Completed applications will be ranked according to the priority criteria. Successful applicants will be notified.
3. If an architect is needed the Committee will forward the project application to the architect. The architect returns the rendering to the Main Street office and it is reviewed by the Committee. Then a meeting is set up with the applicant, the committee, and the architect.
4. Once the plans are complete, the applicant forwards an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness to the Vicksburg Board of Architectural Review using the approved drawing and description of work.
5. The applicant presents an estimate of the cost of the improvements tot he Main Street Office. The Main Street Committee reviews the estimate and provides the applicant with a contract, which when signed, is the notice to proceed with the work.
6. Once approved, work must begin within sixty (60) days from the date of the contract and be completed within one hundred eighty (180) days from the start date. If work does not begin within sixty (60) days of approval, the applicant must resubmit the application and the project must be reapproved.
7. Any changes to the approved application must be submitted to the Main Street Office prior to any construction. Unauthorized changes will void the grant.
8. The applicant shall document all expenses related to façade improvements and shall return receipts and the project report to the Main Street office at the completion of the project. 9. Grant money will be disbursed at the completion of the project and approval of the grant report.
