Celebrating Downtown Success at the MMSA Annual Awards Luncheon
The Vicksburg Main Street team had a wonderful time attending the Mississippi Main Street Association (MMSA) Annual Awards Luncheon this week! Held to honor the incredible work being done across the state, this inspiring event shines a spotlight on Main Street directors, board members, volunteers, and the most impactful downtown revitalization projects from Mississippi’s designated Main Street communities.
We’re proud to share that MCITy: Technological Hub Impacts Region was recognized with the Outstanding Economic Impact Project Award! This innovative initiative is transforming the economic landscape of our community and beyond, and we’re thrilled to see its contributions celebrated at the state level.
A fun and memorable highlight of the luncheon was when Mayor George Flaggs Jr. presented the Main Street Hero Award to The Fighting Okra of Cleveland, MS. Yes, the Fighting Okra himself was there in full character to accept the award—bringing laughter, spirit, and a little green flair to the celebration!
We’re grateful to MMSA for hosting such a meaningful event and for continuing to support downtowns across Mississippi. It was an honor to gather with so many passionate individuals working hard to create vibrant, thriving communities, just like ours in downtown Vicksburg.
Here’s to continued growth, creativity, and collaboration in downtown development across the state! 💙
